Johnny & Rachel Cavanaugh, Cavie Interiors

Who We Are

RACHEL A.Z. CAVANAUGH
Co-Founder, Principal Designer and CEO

Based out of Flower Mound, Texas, Rachel began her design career in 2015 when she went back to her roots after co-founding Cavie & Co, a high-end custom furniture company with her husband, Johnny. Raised by entrepreneurial parents, it was not uncommon for Rachel’s father (a high-end home and furniture designer and builder) to loop her in on his projects, sparking her passion for interior design at an early age. Rachel's Costa Rican and Canadian heritage greatly influenced her aesthetics, as she was drawn to the earthy, sustainable European style and fascinated by the psychology behind color theory.

Transitioning from the modeling industry to motherhood, Rachel soon found her niche in interior design projects throughout the Dallas area and has since gained a reputation for honesty, quality, beauty, and functionality. Her signature style is characterized by timeless elegance, while infusing a sense of warmth and comfort into every home she creates for her clients.

Rachel believes that a well-designed space should be inviting and livable and together with her team at Cavie Interiors, they are committed to designing bespoke homes that embrace and reflect each family’s unique culture, function, and feel. When she’s not being the boss and designing fabulous spaces, Rachel’s favorite titles are "wife” to Johnny and "mama” to their four amazing children; she enjoys watching Johnny or her kids play softball/baseball, raising all the dogs, bunnies, and chickens on their little homestead, and spending time with family and close friends.

JOHNNY CAVANAUGH
Co-Founder, General Contractor at Cavie & Co.

Co-founder with his wife Rachel, Johnny serves as the General Contractor on many Cavie Interiors projects. After starting Cavie & Co. 10 years ago building furniture out of their apartment garage, Johnny gained a reputation for his quality craftsmanship and keen eye for detail.  Since then, he’s expanded into General Contracting for clients, taking the designer’s vision and bringing it to life in practical, skillful, and sustainable ways without compromising quality or beauty.

His favorite part of the job is seeing something designed on paper brought to life and he loves problem solving, overcoming obstacles, and giving clients beautiful and cost-effective interior spaces.

When he’s not building or overseeing the Cavie & Co. Team and Tradesmen, Johnny enjoys spending time with Rachel and their kids fishing, playing sports, or going on his sailboat on the lake.

TALIA TSCHIPPERT
Senior Designer and Space Planner

Originally hailing from Overland Park, Kansas, Talia began her design career at the prestigious University of Oklahoma where she honed her skills in pursuit of business and interior design. As a Senior Designer at Cavie Interiors, Talia has been an invaluable member of the team since she joined in 2021 and is known for her fun personality, meticulous eye for detail, and care for each client she engages. Talia possesses an innate gift for flawlessly planning spaces and crafting digital renderings, and her favorite part of the job is designing functional spaces before seeing them come to life from digital form to physical reality. Talia's primary objective is to manifest the Cavie Interiors vision of ensuring that every client's home is transformed into their most sacred space, and she lives to see the clients’ reaction at the finished stages. When she’s not working, Talia enjoys cooking, reading (especially Harry Potter) and watching movies. A former cheerleader of 12 years, she’s still a huge sports fan, so much so, that she is a proud “fur-mama” to her dog, Boomer (yes, as in “Boomer Sooners”).
